Drew Brooks: Deals for veterans and troops this weekend

Fayetteville Observer - 11/10/2018

Nov. 10--Bullets, coffee and meals are among the free offerings to local troops for Veterans Day this year.

Local businesses have long-standing military discounts for service members, veterans and their families. But on Veterans Day, many businesses go a step further, deepening discounts and giving away free food as a token of appreciation.

The list of businesses with some sort of Veterans Day offer is long. They include national chains like Applebee's, Chili's, Cracker Barrel, Denny's, Golden Corral, Red Lobster, Ruby Tuesday's and Texas Roadhouse.

Local businesses are also in on the celebration of veterans.

The Coffee Cup and The Wine Cafe, sister businesses at 108 Hay St., will offer discounts on coffee drinks and wine bottles, respectively.

And Defender Ammunition Co. in Raeford is offering an extra discount from its factory showroom on Monday.

If you're looking forward to holiday travel, you also can take advantage of discounts from Hyatt hotels and Red Roof Inn. Or, if you're looking for a trip closer to home, the North Carolina Zoo is offering free admission to service members, veterans and military retirees through Friday.
