The Tool Factory Word Workshop is a voice output database, word processor program, and spreadsheet program, along with a drawing program designed for use by children with learning, vision, and cognitive disabilities.The program includes the Tool Factory Word Processor, the Tool Factory Spreadsheet, and the Tool Factory Painter (see separate entries), as well as the Tool Factory Database, Tool Factory Administrator, the Tool Factory Bank Manager, and an E-mailer. The suite uses a consistent interface, making it easier to switch from one application to another. The program is also configurable for a range of ages and learning abiliities, from elementary through adult. The CD-ROM also includes an array of pre-built lesson plans, student activities, and worksheets. Files can be stored on a computer network for use in a computer lab. The database features voice reading of text and can incorporate pictures, video, and sound. The Bank Manager enables searchable banks of clip art to be archived, edited, customized, and created. Clip art taken from the Internet can also be managed. Tool Factory Administrator ties all of the individual programs together and enables configuration for individual users or for an entire class. This program allows passwords to be created, control of program access, choice of icon size, and addition or removal of menu items. COMPATIBILITY: Versions are available for use on IBM and compatible computers and Macintosh computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: The IBM version requires a Pentium or better processor, CD-ROM drive, Windows 95, 98, 2000, or XP; 16-bit 800 x 600 color graphics; and 32 megabytes (MB) RAM. The Macintosh version requires Power PC, Operating System 8.0, CD-ROM drive, 800 x 600 color monitor, and 24 MB RAM.
